Hope Walker - Executive Director

Hope Walker was appointed SCGOP Executive Director on February 4, 2016. She previously served as State Director for Mike Huckabee for President, RNC/SCGOP State Director (2014), SCGOP Political Director (2013), and SCGOP Member Services Director (2011-2012).

Hope is originally from Irmo and is a 2011 graduate of Newberry College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a double minor in History and Spanish where she was active as Student Body President and Kappa Delta Sorority. Hope has experience in every area of the South Carolina Republican Party, ranging from campaigning and fundraising to event planning and constituent service. She has served on multiple boards within the SCGOP and is knowledgeable and engaged in party politics. Hope serves as President of the Young Alumni Board at Newberry College, the Newberry College Board of Managers, Chapter Advisory Board at Newberry College for Kappa Delta Sorority as well as other community projects throughout the Midlands area in South Carolina.


Sharon Thomson - Comptroller and Treasurer

Sharon Thomson graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. She has over 20 years experience in the accounting field, primarily in mortgage banking and the construction industry. She currently owns her own firm, providing accounting services to a number of small businesses.

Sharon is a notary with the State of South Carolina and a member of the National Association of Women in Construction. Sharon previously served as Comptroller for Chairmen Karen Floyd and Chad Connelly.

Maxine Gross - Office Manager

Maxine Gross lives in Lexington and previously was the receptionist-office manager for a local political organization for seven years. Prior to that she was the receptionist for the San Diego Association of Governments, coordinating local leaders of the communities making up the city of San Diego, California.

Maxine spent most of her years raising six children as well as being a pastor/missionary’s wife, women’s ministry organizer, and international conference speaker. She now has 14 grandchildren and is married to Dr. Edward Gross, president of Vanguard Global Network, which equips the world’s pastors to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission. Their eldest son, Joshua, is the Legislative Director for Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-3).
